Clif’s Pick of the Week: First Born #2. I'm gonna go along the lines of saying that most people don't know what this is or what this is supposed to be doing, so here's the quick rundown: Sara Pezzini is no longer the bearer of the Witchblade because she has somehow become pregnant (we know how it happens, she just never did that) and that's where First Born comes in. Both the Darkness and the Angelus are coming for the child because they believe it will be the one factor that tips the balances between light and dark. Image claims things won't be the same after this, but they've pulled that one on us before, so only time will tell. What we do know is that this comic has a great story and even better art. Ron Marz has finally made the Witchblade a good read again, and the painted art is absolutely amazing. Recommended Reads from last week: BLACK SUMMER #3 (OF 7) (MR) (intense political psychodrama! with superheroes…and fabulous artwork!), HEROES FOR HIRE #14 (worth checking out…there’s more going on here than in “World War Hulk”…and a tie-in to what’s to come), GREEN ARROW BLACK CANARY #1 (this is off to a good start…there’s a tie-in to other stuff starting in the DC universe…and it doesn’t involve Deathstroke [for once]), SUPERMAN #668 (…finally some of the confusing stories from months ago are starting to make more sense [I hope]…and the 3rd Kryptonian will soon be revealed!), and BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #10 (great telling of the “creation” of the Joker; well done!)!
