Welcome to Outcries! It’s a busy time for us and unfortunately I’ve only got time for a short intro – and to point out that our New Comics will arrive on schedule this week! (No delay due to the Presidents Day holiday)
And as always there’s great stuff coming this week including Zorro #1 from Dynamite Entertainment – if this is as good their Lone Ranger series we’re in for a real blast!
Comics in the Media
The final issue of Y: THE LAST MAN continues to create buzz with new, glowing reviews in the Los Angeles Times and Entertainment Weekly.
A review in the February 7 Los Angeles Times calls the series "a comic-book masterpiece," adding, "Yorick is well-meaning, intelligent, thoughtful, and, ultimately, irrelevant. He's the everyman we all hope we aren't."
The February 15 Entertainment Weekly includes a review of Y: THE LAST MAN, naming the series' conclusion an "EW Pick." Giving the issue a grade of "A," the review says, "Y's finale proves that Big Ideas were always the tattered-chintz window dressing for this dystopia's relationships and moments of self-discovery."
Clif’s Pick of the Week: Green Arrow and Black Canary #5. Since Judd Winick took over Green Arrow writing chores a couple of years ago, Oliver has been one of the good reads from DC that usually slides under the radar. With Green Arrow and Black Canary he’s proving why it should be at the top of your list. Filled with action and some heart-ache in only the first five issues the one seemingly has it all. With issue #5 however all you want from Mr. Queen now is sweet revenge. After his son (Conner) is left brain-dead someone does the unthinkable, and Green Arrow is ready to bring violence to whoever it was. Even better, we have sold out the first three issues and this is a perfect jump-on for new readers. If you’ve never given GA a chance now is the time and if you’ve been wondering where the old Ollie has been for all these years it appears you’re going to get him back!
