Week:
Nextwave #12. In
what is, unfortunately, the last issue of Warren Ellis’ brilliant Nextwave, we finally get to see the mastermind
villain behind the entire series. At first, we’re lead to believe it’s a baby
M.O.D.O.K. created when a M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism
Designed Only for Killing) and a M.O.D.A.M. (Mental Organisms Designed for
Aggressive Maneuvers) made sweet love and had a child. It has been trying to
win its “father’s” love ever since. After a little chase, though, we find that
the real culprit has been the Devil Dinosaur the whole time. Tired of being
Moon Boy’s lap “dog”, he’s out to prove that all monkeys are idiots and he
shall inherit the Earth once more. But of course he loses! When Nextwave is on the case, no man, be it dinosaur or
other, is safe….wait. That’s not what I meant. They are safe! Man is
safe when Nextwave are here! Only they’re not
here any more because it got cancelled. What a shame… Oh well. You can still
pick up the trade and what few issues we still have in stock.
