Welcome to Outcries! It’s been pretty busy of late and so this newsletter will be brief – at the very least providing you with a listing of what’s coming for the week! Plus – Clifton has provided his pick of the week!
Clif’s Pick of the Week: Gamekeeper #2. In what I believe to be the strongest title from the fairly newer Virgin Comics, Gamekeeper is from the mind behind such movies as Snatch and Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Guy Ritchie. Written by Andy Diggle (Batman Confidential, The Losers), Gamekeeper is about, believe it or not, the Gamekeeper of a wealthy man’s estate who takes matters into his own hands after a raid by armed forces. Through a series of flashbacks, we know that there is more to the Brock’s (the Gamekeeper) past then he has told anyone. After the mysterious men kill the wealthy man and steal some documents, Brock’s history is the only thing that can stop them and he is determined to avenge the death and to find out the truth behind it all. I know this is only issue 2 but this might be some of the best writing of Diggle’s that I’ve seen. The art’s a little scratchy and rough, but it fits the story perfectly. Great action and great dialogue, this 10 issue series is one to watch. MATURE CONTENT.
