Welcome to Outcries! Another
month has blown by and with the start of a new month comes another great FEATURE
OF THE MONTH. This time what else could it be but the Fantastic
Four! Yes, with the arrival this month of the sequel to the first
movie we get a peek at the “Power Cosmic” and the Silver Surfer!
(He looks cool – but I really hope they tuned up the image of Doctor Doom
– with real armor forged by mysterious hermit monks to cover the disfigured
countenance! With a little of that old gypsy black magic
thrown in.) The Feature will bring to bear our HUGE selection of Fantastic
Four Comics – from newer and old Back Issues to Trades! Stock
up! Learn what the FF are all about –
before they came to the Multiplex – with our Feature
of the Month for June – the Fantastic Four!
And again we have TWO R20;Picks of the WeekR21; with entries from both
Clif’s Pick of the Week: Spawn: Godslayer
#1. A while back, I choose Spawn: Godslayer
as my pick of the week and the reasons for this one are the same for the last
one. In this new on-going series, we see the Godslayer
and his impact around his world. Word is spreading that this new, un-named
person is killing the Gods and they fear that Llyra
(the Goddess from the first story) may only be the one of the first. We find
out that, although he killed the Goddess, her host (his love,
Derek’s Pick of the
Week: Silver
Surfer: Requiem #1. This book makes a cool character like the Silver
Surfer even cooler. Not much is ever known of the Silver Surfer and
now that there’s going to be a movie with him in it, they’re starting to go to
town with the books. And this book is the most top notch one of them all.
Writer J Michael Straczynski gives a great
lead into what is going to be a wonderful story of how the Silver Surfer
is in his last weeks of life, as Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four
can't solve the mystery of what is happening to the Surfer. Add the phenomenal
art work of Esad Ribic,
in a sleek, but somewhat gritty, painted style of art, and you have one helluva book. Once you open the book and see the first
image you will immediately want to read the rest of the book, followed by the
wonderful beginnings of a great mini series!
And as always, there’s the latest
selection of Variant Covers, Trade Paperbacks,
Graphic Novels and Hardcovers!
